About us
Saoirse has been supporting individuals and families experiencing domestic violence for 20 years.
We provide a range of life-saving and life-changing services –
empowering women and children on their journey to safety and recovery.
Our services
- We work with over 500 families across South Dublin and West Wicklow each year.
- We offer domestic violence refuge and safe house accommodation to women and their children.
- We offer specialised support services to families affected by domestic violence.
- We engage with communities to educate and challenge perceptions of domestic violence, focusing on prevention and awareness.
- We campaign and advocate for social change, legislation, and government policies to address the crime of domestic violence
Our approach
- Our vision is a society where domestic violence and abuse are never tolerated or silenced – empowering women and children to live in safety, free from fear.
- We make a difference by empowering clients to speak up and seek help, whether they’re leaving an abusive relationship or striving for safety within it.
- We provide a non-judgmental environment where clients are listened to, believed, and respected.
- Our commitment to confidentiality and adherence to legal guidelines ensure a safe and supportive space for all.
Theoretical frameworks that inform our practice
- Duluth Model (placing accountability for abuse on the perpetrator)
- Bronfenbrenner Eco Systems Theory (an individual's development is shaped by interconnected environmental systems)
- Patriarchal Theory (the impact of men's societal power)
- Family Systems Theory (each family member's behavior is interconnected and affects the entire system)
- Attachment Theory (how early emotional bonds influence how we form relationships)
- Control Theory
